 What are Golden Aussie's ?

  1. Australian Shepherd:
    • The Australian Shepherd, often known as an “Aussie,” is a working dog with a strong herding instinct. Here are some key traits of Australian Shepherds:
      • Herding Instinct: Aussies excel at herding livestock and are known for their agility and intelligence.
      • Loyalty: They form strong bonds with their owners and other family members.
      • High Energy: Aussies are active and require plenty of exercise.
      • Tolerance: They tolerate a lot of activity and noise.

  1. Golden Retriever:
    • Golden Retrievers are renowned for their gentle and friendly nature. Here’s what you need to know about them:
      • Family-Friendly: Goldies are excellent family dogs, especially with children.
      • Loyalty and Intelligence: They form strong bonds with their owners and are highly intelligent.
      • Energetic: Goldens thrive on activity and love to play.
      • Affectionate: They enjoy cuddling and being close to their humans.

The resulting Golden Aussie inherits the best of both worlds: loyalty, intelligence, friendliness, and a playful nature. Keep in mind that hybrid dogs like the Golden Aussie are not officially recognized by the American Kennel Club, but they make wonderful companions

Here is a quick background on my blog.

I got my first Aussie back in 1997, he was a Tri color that was given to us by a good friend.  We named him Cowboy.  Cowboy's disposition, temperament, loyalty and he was so smart, this is what made me decide that I would have no other breed.  There are lots of great breeds out there, but I knew this was the breed for my lifestyle.

After Cowboy we bought a Blue Merle female, Savannah, and then a co-worker gave me his Red Tri, Bosco.  We had a few litters out of Savannah and Bosco which produced many colors.

Cowboy passed away in 2010 and Bosco in 2018 and Savannah in 2019.

We felt like our lives were missing something.  The kids were all grown, and it was just Kerry and I, so one summer day while I was at work, Kerry took the grandkids to look at some Australian Shepherd puppies.  The one that caught their eyes, was the one laying on the AC vent just chilling (literally), needless to say Max came into our lives.

We had just remodeled our home, so the rules were no inside pets........That lasted a little longer than I thought and a year later, Max was a full time inside house dog.

He was our only dog and I hate to admit it, but he was spoiled rotten.  He had both our attention 24/7 and went everywhere with us.  If we went somewhere that he couldn't go, we had our daughter come and stay at the house with him.  He is great with the grandkids and on occasion we would catch him bed with them when they would sleep over, of course, he waited until we fell asleep.

In 2023 we brought him home a friend, enter, Rambo.  He was jealous at first but came to accept him as he figured out, he was not going anywhere.

Rambo had just figured out that there are girl dogs when my daughter brought here Golden Retriever, Missy, over on Thanksgiving and long story short, we now have 9 Golden Aussie puppies, yes, we have 9.  We had Max neutered and debated on having Rambo neutered but had decided not to.  And so yes we have 9 puppies.

And so, my Blog starts.
